Carlos Sainz (Classic Ferrari for sale) was supersonic in qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix on Saturday. The Spanish driver took an authoritative pole position with a lap of 1:15.946 to beat Max Verstappen (Red Bull) by more than two tenths. Poleman in Austin, Lando Norris (McLaren) had to settle for third place, but the Briton will be able to benefit from the slipstream until the first corner. He will be accompanied on the second row by Charles Leclerc (Ferrari). THE Classic Mercedes for sale by George Russell and Lewis Hamilton will start from the third row.

Catastrophe at the bottom of the rankings for Oscar piastri (McLaren) and Sergio Perez (Red Bull). Neither the Australian nor the Mexican managed to qualify for Q2. The McLaren driver can regret a lap that was cancelled for exceeding track limits. It is the first time this year that Piastri has not qualified for Q3 in qualifying for Sunday's race. For Checo, who will start only 18th on the grid in front of his home crowd this Sunday, the situation is not improving at Red Bull while his main rival Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls) qualified much better (12th). Franco Colapinto (Williams, 16th), Esteban Ocon (Alpine, 19th) and Guanyu-Zhou (Sauber, 20th) were also eliminated in Q1.

New passage in Q3 for Pierre Gasly

Pierre Gasly (Alpine) managed to get into Q3 for the second qualifying session in a row (8th), taking advantage of the track exit of Yuki tsunoda (Racing Bulls) at the very end of Q2. The Japanese driver made a mistake when entering the stadium and ended his last attempt in the wall, causing a red flag. On his 400th Grand Prix appearance, Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) also remained at the quayside during the second part of these qualifications (13th).

Join us at 21:00 p.m. (French time) this Sunday for the start of the Mexican Grand Prix.
