The red flame that had reignited at the United States Grand Prix is no longer burning. After two consecutive podium finishes, only embers remain. Charles Leclerc following the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Monegasque driver had nevertheless managed to reverse the trend after a difficult Friday, qualifying third at Interlagos. Determined to consolidate the lead of the Team on Classic Mercedes for sale In the Constructors' Championship, Leclerc had made a clean start to the race. However, the event was quickly neutralized due to Gabriel Bortoleto's accident.
On relaunch, Oscar piastri, then fourth, attempted a daring maneuver on the inside of the first corner. To the right of his car Kimi Antonelli's car (second) was sandwiched between Charles Leclerc's car at the other end. While the first two escaped unscathed, car number 16 suffered a suspension failure.
The Australian was subsequently found guilty by the stewards, receiving a ten-second penalty which he served during his pit stop. This decision was criticized by Charles Leclerc, who also lamented Kimi Antonelli's poor judgment. It's worth noting that the two drivers had already collided on track during the Dutch Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver was also forced to retire there, while the Mercedes protégé remained on the track.

Oscar Piastri penalized, Charles Leclerc also blames Kimi Antonelli
« Kimi [Antonelli] knew Oscar [Piastri] was on the inside. He wasn't completely on the inside, which is the basis of the regulations for judging contact. However, you can't take a corner as if no one is on the inside if someone is there. It doesn't matter how far ahead they are of your car. For me, it's closer to a 50/50 between Kimi [Antonelli] and Oscar [Piastri]. Leclerc responded to the F1 before analyzing the race footageOscar [Piastri] does not deserve all the blame. »
After a difficult Friday, Charles Leclerc and Ferrari had nevertheless managed to turn things around, making this result all the more frustrating. It hurts. When you put in all the work you've done over the weekend, when you've turned things around a bit on what was shaping up to be a very complicated weekend after Friday, you throw all your efforts away because of a mistake that isn't yours and there's nothing you can do about it. he expressed his regret to Canal+. I don't know if I could have aimed for better than a podium finish. Even a podium would have been good, it's a shame. He adds.
Ferrari misses out on second place in the Constructors' Championship
Having regained the upper hand over the Silver Arrows in the Constructors' Championship, Ferrari now finds itself in a disappointing fourth place after the Brazilian Grand Prix. Second place thus seems increasingly out of reach for Maranello. "It's not easy, especially when you're fighting for second place in the constructors' championship. It's going to be extremely difficult to achieve now." "Charles Leclerc laments.
On the other side of the garage, Lewis Hamilton for his part brought about his own misfortune. First struck by Carlos SainzA first-lap collision with Franco Colapinto's car ultimately ruined his race. The seven-time world champion then retired mid-race, leaving with zero points for the weekend. Ferrari now has two weeks to recover from this disappointing Grand Prix before the final three rounds of the season.

We see the comments of the so-called experts. A renowned driver gives his opinion, but the armchair pundits decide, because someone got hurt, that he's nervous or wrong! The only truth is that if Antonelli stays on his line, without cutting in on the left, and has two meters to the right, it's fine for all three! And no one should be penalized for this kind of maneuver, which is what makes racing so interesting, and all the better if there's contact! Following the same logic, what about the Norris-Piastri contact in Singapore? The stewards (who are generally useless) judge the consequences, not the facts, and if everyone had stayed in the race, nothing would have happened. Is that normal or not? I don't applaud the commentators who just go with the flow; it's this kind of viewpoint that contributes to the dullness of racing by endorsing ridiculous rules (the wheels were in front, it's an attack, etc.). This world is appalling!

I agree with the general idea, but not with the TV commentary. Febreau might have, but Grosjean (and Villeneuve would have thought the same) clearly agreed that Antonelli wasn't leaving enough room. That's what differentiates the fans who experienced the hard-fought battles of the 90s from this sanitized F1 where drivers like Piastri or Verstappen still attempt impressive overtakes with their own two hands, unlike the DRS-wielding drivers of the 2000s. Personally, this penalty for Piastri made me think even more that this F1 is no longer for me. Thanks to the 14 PM MotoGP race that same day. Best regards.

A view shared here! If we can no longer overtake on the inside but rely solely on DRS to gain an advantage over the car in front, when will we see races with autonomous cars? Oh, I'm being told that this already exists in Abu Dhabi...

Antonelli isn't a first-time offender, that's true. But if he had moved to the right, he would have cut Leclerc off in the following right-hander and would have been considered at fault for the ensuing collision. It seems to me that Piastri is getting nervous and attempting desperate maneuvers. How did he expect to make it through a chicane with three cars abreast?

Antonelli drives like he's on a video game console... it's all or nothing. Even though his front end is clearly ahead of Piastri's, he should have given him enough room because Piastri can't go any further to the left. Otherwise, he should abandon any attempt to overtake on the inside and be content with super maneuvers using DRS... What a bright future for racing. The problem stems from the fact that most drivers refuse to be overtaken and don't even know when to lift off the throttle: gentlemen, you're not in a simulator but in a race, you need to be careful not to do anything reckless! Even if he's talented, Antonelli makes contact with (too) many opponents.

Well, yes, as soon as you hit the side of your buddy (Antonelli), you're in the wrong. Piastri didn't have enough room, and the Mercedes couldn't move to the right, so... In any case, the videos seem pretty clear. It all happens very quickly, though, but Piastri seems to be solely responsible.

Charles, that's an unworthy comment! We've watched and rewatched the "incident," but it was Oscar who wanted to play Bad Max... but he still has a lot to learn! And Kimi couldn't do anything; besides, he didn't throw you, he was thrown by Oscar into your car! It's really not right to try and blame a young kid who's doing it to you... I won't say a bad word :):):)
