David Sanchez joins Alpine as executive technical director

The Frenchman returns to a house that he knows well, since he started at enstone in 2005. He was then a junior aerodynamicist, the year Renault et Fernando Alonso won their first titles in Formula 1. Sanchez will serve in the newly created position of “Executive Technical Director.” This position will allow Sanchez to be the focal point for Performance, Engineering and Aerodynamics.
Alpine recently announced an overhaul of its technical leadership, with Ciaron Pilbeam (Performance), Joe Burnell (Engineering) and David Wheater (Aerodynamics). The three men are each technical director of their sector, and they will report to Sanchez, who will report directly to Bruno Famin, Team Principal of the team.
“I am excited about this challenge at Alpine. I look forward to working again at Enstone, where I started my Formula 1 career.”, explains Sanchez. “This team has always been able to count on the involvement of fantastic people and there is so much potential to be unleashed. An immense task awaits us to improve performance on the track and this type of challenge motivates me. I am fully ready to get started and I am impatient to reunite with the technical teams at Enstone-Viry with one goal, that of bringing regular success to this great team. »
“Working hard together”
After the first five Grands Prix of the 2024 season, Alpine still has no points and is in 9th place in the constructors' championship. The French team must therefore work harder to move up the rankings. A mission which will be entrusted to Sanchez, among others, according to Bruno Famin.

An excellent recruit without a doubt but one more layer in the internal organization ofAlpine F1, is it useful? The future will tell us after the 3-headed organization was presented to us last summer as the solution in the French team.
