The young French woman, winner of the F1 Academy, in its second season, will therefore be among the drivers on which Classic Mercedes for sale will be able to count on working on the simulator during the season. Dorian Pin She will also be present at several Grands Prix this season, alongside George Russell and Kimi Antonelli. The 22-year-old will also be able to offer her advice to the Mercedes driver in the F1 Academy who will succeed her, but who has not yet been announced.
“I am very proud and grateful to take on the role of development driver within the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team,” explains Doriane Pin. “My two years in the junior program have helped me mature as a driver, and this is a fantastic new step in my career. I look forward to continuing to work with everyone at Brackley (chassis factory) and Brixworth (engine factory) and progressing towards new opportunities, both on and off the track.”
The arrival of the one nicknamed "Pocket Rocket" within the contingent of development drivers of the brand with the star marks a logical continuation after a first test in the Mercedes simulator, which Doriane Pin had told us about during the recording of "L'Émission" which was dedicated to her and Lisa Billard.
Doriane Pin's racing program for the 2026 season will be announced soon, according to the Mercedes team. It would seem that the young Frenchwoman is once again turning her attention to...Endurance, where she experienced her first successes before leaving in 2024 for the car.

An F1 development driver without having even demonstrated an acceptable level of performance in FRECA?! If this is to justify LM's so-called commitment to promoting women to F1, the ploy is far too obvious! The fact that it goes through Mercedes fools no one: Sussie Wolff - Toto Wolff - Mercedes! As for Doriane Pin, if by some miracle she participates in FP1 at the end of the year, good for her, let her enjoy it, but what an imbalance! For the girls, almost no FRECA, for the boys, a minimum of 5 or 6 in the top 5 of F2, and even then!

"Affirmative action" or "Positive action" in English to rebalance the odds, Daniel?

Does she believe in this "promotion" which is nothing but crude marketing? She is merely an object used by LM and Mercedes to make people believe that a woman can become an F1 driver.

A development driver, this girl? That's laughable! She'd be better off competing with the F3 elite before thinking she's a Formula 1 driver. This whole thing is just PR and it's pathetic.

I don't see the point of such an announcement, except for marketing purposes. It would have been smarter to put her in F2! She needs experience… 😎🧐👀👍

That's right, especially since, although Doriane Pin won in 2025 in F1 Academy, she had huge problems the year before in FRECA, particularly in tire management.

Great for "Pocket Rocket," but isn't it a bit presumptuous for a driver who has only ever triumphed in F4 without ever touching F3 or F2? This nomination is a bit like "affirmative action," as our dear British friends would say!
