For the coming of the F1 This year, the management of the Interlagos circuit has opted for a complete resurfacing of the track. An operation carried out just two months before the Brazilian Grand Prix. A very tight schedule that had consequences during the race weekend a few days ago.

Indeed, the drivers quickly reported rebound problems. Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, George Russell… There have been many complaints during this 2024 edition of the Brazilian Grand Prix, pointing the finger at certain areas of the track that are very marked by bumps. Winner in the rain, Max Verstappen did not, for example, take the risk of straying from the racing line to try to cool his intermediate tires, fearing a stall in his car. Red Bull despite all the confidence he had.

"[The condition of the track] was still very bad, explained the Dutchman after his victory on Sunday at Interlagos. We couldn't ride in some places because otherwise we would bottom out violently, even in the wet. So we have to do something for next year to improve the situation.

I know a lot of people put a lot of effort into it, I don't want to badmouth people, I know they always try their best with resurfacing, but for the cars we're currently using it's definitely too bumpy. Something needs to be done »

A speech supported by Esteban Ocon, sitting next to him at a press conference, according to which this phenomenon would certainly not have occurred " if it was 2021 or 2020, but these cars ride very low and all the hits are actually felt directly on the chassis where there is no real suspension »

Difficult when you know that the ground moves quite easily because of the location of the circuit built between the lakes and that the violent local rains also contribute to moving the ground!
