The 2025 season of Formula 1 has just ended, and has crowned a new world champion, in the person of Lando NorrisThe time has therefore come for the drivers to enjoy the summer break, a period less appreciated by fans who are used to the excitement of the series of races.
The 2026 F1 calendar was unveiled in mid-June, and the first race will be the Australian Grand Prix on the weekend of March 6-8. We will therefore have to wait 88 days, or 2,112 hours or 126,720 minutes, before the lights go out at the Albert Park circuit.
The season will conclude in Abu Dhabi in early December (from the 4th to the 6th). Among other expected changes, Canada and Monaco are swapping places on the calendar, with the Montreal race taking place from May 22nd to 24th, and the Monaco Grand Prix from June 5th to 7th, reflecting a desire to optimize travel between the different Grands Prix. The new date for the Canadian Grand Prix puts it in direct competition with the Indianapolis 500, which will be held on the same day.
As expected, the Madrid Grand Prix will be held for the first time. It will take place on the weekend of September 11-13, 2026. However, as previously announced, the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola is no longer on the calendar.
The Hungarian Grand Prix returns to its position as the final race before the summer break, a role previously held at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. The Spa race is moved up a bit in the calendar and will take place from July 17th to 19th, two weeks after the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Barcelona retains its place on the calendar as expected, meaning two Grands Prix will be held in Spain.
