I'm eagerly awaiting the coming weeks... to find out if Ferrari or Lewis will decide their future (together...?) 😎👀🧐👀🏁

One caveat, however: contrary to the statements of @yves-Henri Randier and @Lucas Paul, this refers to the 2022-2024 season of Hamilton vs. Russell, not 2023/2024. Russell won 2-1. Nevertheless, in terms of points, Hamilton has 697, compared to Russell's 695 over the three seasons. At Ferrari, Hamilton suffered a real humiliation in 2025, a seven-time world champion, against Leclerc, who lost by 86 points (7 podiums and 1 pole position versus 0). The 2026 season will show us whether the seven-time world champion's decline is mainly due to ground-effect F1 cars or whether the British driver's career is definitively over, despite the new regulations for the following season.

Thanks for the correction. That said, something happened in the aftermath of Abu Dhabi 2021 that Sir Lewis still hasn't gotten over and certainly never will!

It's safe to assume that Elkann has little interest in the inner workings of an F1 team and was primarily focused on the stock market opportunity (which worked, by deceiving those who believed in it). In reality, no one at Ferrari expected or wanted Hamilton, as they already had a leader. Was he poorly received, or did he simply make no effort to integrate? Probably both. And while Leclerc was performing well with the car, why would they have listened to Hamilton's complaints? The worst part is that at the beginning of 2025, there was still some doubt; it was possible he might take the reins of the Scuderia. But by 2026, even that hope will be gone: the team already has a leader, who has clearly established himself as such and humiliated Hamilton. So what's the point of persisting? Elkann has put Ferrari in a real bind: breaking the contract would be very costly, but not doing so would compromise his credibility and prepare him for a year of unprecedented criticism from the other side of the Alps.

As you said, Yves-Henri, it had already started with George Russell in 2023/24. But it seems Sir Lewis didn't understand that, but on the other hand, he was very clever to siphon money from Ferrari, knowing he wouldn't be able to compete against... who... Charles :):):) And if the Ferrari boss didn't understand, another difficult year awaits the tifosi...

A harsh return to reality for Sir Lewis, but George Russell had already brought him down to earth in 2023 and 2024! So 2025 is somewhat in line with the previous two years at Mercedes... It remains to be seen what the announced period of phone withdrawal will bring: will it be a complete break or will it continue?
