Ferrari unveils livery in tribute to the 50th anniversary of Niki Lauda's first title

The Scuderia will sport a special livery on the cars of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc at Monza. Niki Lauda, ​​who won the title at the Autodromo Nazionale in 1975, will be in the spotlight.

It's a nice nod to a part of its history that Ferrari is preparing to make at the Italian Grand Prix. Team unveiled its special livery planned for the Italian Grand Prix this Wednesday. For their second home race of the season, after Imola, Charles Leclerc et Lewis Hamilton will take the track with a car whose design is reminiscent of Niki Lauda's Ferrari 312 T. At the wheel, the Austrian won five times in 1975 to finally win his first world championship title ahead of Emerson Fittipaldi (McLaren).

For this tribute, Ferrari adopts a style old school  which indeed offers a journey through time. The driver numbers will be black, framed in red, while the rear wing will be metallic to recall the aluminum used at the time. The drivers' outfits and helmets have also been adapted to match the style of the era.

For Ferrari, it will also be a matter of showcasing this livery on the track by making up for the zero points from Zandvoort. In the Netherlands, both drivers retired: Lewis Hamilton lost control of his car in the banking, where, a few laps later, Charles Leclerc was tangled up by Kimi Antonelli. A bad memory that will have to be erased in front of ecstatic fans, who will inevitably remember last year's great joy, when Charles Leclerc won for the second time at Monza ahead of the McLarens. This season, beating the men from Woking fairly looks like a near-impossible mission for the Reds. But at Monza, the magic can still happen...
