A few months before the kick-off of the 2026 season of Formula 1, Aston Martin displays a clear ambition. Enrico Cardile, technical director of the British team, shared his vision for the coming year and his ambitious goals.

« We will succeed next year » he stated unambiguously on the official F1 website. " I just don't know if we'll make it to the first, second, seventh race, or whatever. What we have is commitment, focus, and the confidence that everything will work out. We have everything we need to do a good job. Failure is not an option. »

For Cardile, the challenge is not only to perform, but also to measure up to the competition. I'm looking forward to seeing the other ten cars, seeing how everyone performs, and seeing if we're in a good position and if we need to keep pushing to maintain our advantage, or if we need to keep pushing to catch up with teams that are faster than us. It's going to be exciting. "He says.

The technical director also emphasizes the importance of building a team's own character: " This was one of the first messages I delivered upon arrival: we must find our identity and use our vision to shape the organization so that it functions as we wish. Drawing inspiration from elsewhere is a good thing, but copying what has been done elsewhere is not the right solution. »

With this philosophy, Aston Martin intends not to be content with following the pack and intends to take advantage of the regulatory shift, coupled with the arrival of Honda as engine supplier and Adrian Newey as the thinking head, to play a leading role.

As the 2026 season approaches, F1 observers will be closely scrutinizing Aston Martin's progress. However, be careful not to get too excited before this new era begins.

Maybe you should change both drivers to succeed.

Let's see if Adrian Newey can produce a winner, as he hasn't always managed to produce a winning single-seater. With Aston Martin's commercial and financial troubles, the Board of Shareholders could decide to clean house in 2026 under pressure from Honda, which didn't come just to make up the numbers!

Failure is not an option in 2026 for Aston Martin, especially since commercially and financially, the company is doing rather badly! But failure is not an option for Ferrari and Mercedes either, in search of world titles, just like for the King of Cheaters' BATT... As for Red Bull / Racing Bulls, they are discovering the joys of being engine manufacturers, just like Audi! Williams and Haas intend to play again and play among the big ones when Cadillac will probably make up the numbers on the grid unless the Scuderia gives birth to a super-powered engine, but Radio Paddock suggests that the Mercedes block - which equips 4 out of 11 teams! - would be the future reference for 2026

It will depend a lot on Honda! In 2026, everything will depend on the engine manufacturers and especially on reliability at the start of the season. It's so locked in at the aero level that there will be fewer performance differences between the chassis than between the powertrains and their adaptation to the new fuel. There will undoubtedly be geniuses who will have a little something extra, but for Aston, it will be necessary to perform well on the first day because they will not be able to count on their drivers for development in the right direction!
