Formula 1 donates one million euros in solidarity with Emilia-Romagna

After canceling its Grand Prix which was to be held at Imola this weekend, Formula 1 announced that it had donated one million euros to finance relief operations in Emilia-Romagna.

It is definitely faultless for the Formula 1. After making the very inspired and well-timed decision to cancel the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix scheduled for this Sunday while the region is in the grip of severe bad weather and serious flooding, Formula 1 has just announced a donation of one million euros to the Agency for Territorial Security and Civil Protection of the Emilia-Romagna region to support communities affected by flooding in the region.

Originally from the area, F1 boss Stefano Domenicali was absolutely keen to make a gesture. “I was born and raised in the wonderful lands of Emilia-Romagna, a region that is experiencing one of the saddest moments in its history. The situation the region's communities find themselves in is terrible, but I know that the resilience and passion of the region's residents, like so many others across Italy, will prevail through this crisis."

Formula 1 will be making an immediate €1m donation to the Emilia-Romagna Region's Agency for Territorial Safety and Civil Protection to support the communities affected by the flooding in the region.

“We must do everything we can to support them during these difficult times and that is why we are donating to help support the relief efforts on the ground. My thoughts, on behalf of the entire Formula 1 community, are with everyone affected and we would like to thank the emergency services for their incredible work.”

Note that the food and drinks initially planned for the Paddock Club, for the circuit, for the teams and for F1 hospitality were donated to a group organizing food banks and distributions in order to help those who have been affected by the floods.

A commendable collective effort on the part of all the teams and the promoter to ensure that all those who are having difficulty shopping at the moment can get their supplies. Earlier in the morning, the stable Classic Ferrari for sale, based in Emilia-Romagna, had also announced a donation of one million euros.
