George Russell, winner in Singapore: "I don't really know where this performance comes from"

Singapore Grand Prix winner George Russell's reaction to F1TV: “It’s incredible, especially after what happened two seasons ago here. I missed an opportunity and I’m happy to have taken it today. I thank the team who did a fantastic job all weekend. We don’t really know where this performance came from but we are very happy. Friday was a difficult day for me. But we stayed solid. I was nervous today when I saw that Max [Verstappen] had chosen the soft tires, but we did a good job to extend our lead."

"I said it yesterday, if I had to make a list of the circuits on which I would have bet on a victory, this one would have been at the bottom of the list. I hope that we can keep this pace until the end of the season, but Lando [Norris] was very quick. We'll take this performance today, celebrate it, and see what we can do in Austin."

The next race of the world championship of Formula 1 will take place in the United States, the weekend of October 19, on the Circuit of the Americas.

Yes, it's been going on for 3 years and it leaves me perplexed that Mercedes engineers are surprised when their car works. In fact, it could well be a hoax.

It's still surprising at this level of performance and technological excellence not to know where this renewed performance comes from!
