Montreal is one of those destinations that drivers and fans eagerly anticipate every year. The Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, with its ever-present walls, unique atmosphere, and spectacular braking zones, has consistently produced memorable races for decades. But for Audi, this trip to Canada is primarily about resetting expectations after a disappointing visit to Miami. "It was a difficult weekend for us, but we knew there would be challenging moments in our first season.", tempers Allan McNish, race director. "We need to correct a few things and execute our weekend well if we want to maximize our speed and potential."

The Sprint format, making its debut at the Canadian circuit this year, further complicates matters on a track that doesn't forgive mistakes. With only one free practice session before qualifying and the Sprint, every lap will count double. "Sprint weekends place even more emphasis on preparation and making the most of the available track time."McNish points out. A message that his two drivers have clearly taken to heart.

Pilots in search of cleanliness

Nico Hulkenberg knows Montreal well and understands what the circuit demands: "The main thing after Miami is to get back on track quickly and put together a cleaner weekend overall. We know we have the potential to do well, but it's about delivering from start to finish of the event." A clear-sighted observation for the German, who points to the regularity of execution as the first issue to address.

Gabriel Bortoleto, for his part, already has experience in Montreal from last season. F2 : “Having raced here last year, I know how important it is to feel comfortable with the car immediately, especially with this Sprint format. Our goal is to get everything set up more cleanly than in the last round.” En F1 Academy, Emma Felbermayr, who represents Audi on the grid and is leading the championship after her excellent start to the season in Shanghai with two podiums including a victory, will also be on track for three races in Montreal — another opportunity to consolidate her position in the championship.
