Before the season kicked off, many observers—including us—were predicting a very close championship in 2025, with several teams capable of winning Grands Prix and both world titles. After five rounds, it's clear that McLaren is well above the rest at the start of the year, with already four victories (three for Piastres, one for Norris). However, from an accounting point of view, no one has yet taken off in the championship.

No one has pulled away because the McLaren drivers are taking points from each other, which allows Verstappen to stay within reach, and so much the better for the suspense. On the other hand, the great competition at the end of 2024 with four cars capable of winning has disappeared. Mercedes and Ferrari don't seem able to do it fairly for the moment, and Red Bull's only victory is due to a nice move by Verstappen. Regardless, the fight for the title promises to be three-way, which, on the other hand, is more open than last year, and therefore very interesting.
