Is the start of the 2025 season the tightest of the hybrid era?

After five Grands Prix, there are only 26 points separating championship leader Oscar Piastri from fourth-placed George Russell. From a financial perspective, this makes the start of the 2025 season one of the closest in recent years... or even the most competitive of the hybrid era?

No one has pulled away because the McLaren drivers are taking points from each other, which allows Verstappen to stay within reach, and so much the better for the suspense. On the other hand, the great competition at the end of 2024 with four cars capable of winning has disappeared. Mercedes and Ferrari don't seem able to do it fairly for the moment, and Red Bull's only victory is due to a nice move by Verstappen. Regardless, the fight for the title promises to be three-way, which, on the other hand, is more open than last year, and therefore very interesting.
