Kimi Antonelli deserves credit for fighting to the very end at Silverstone. Leading the race, the Italian driver encountered a problem with his front left wheel as he went over a kerb. This forced him to return to the pits at low speed. Dropping out of the points, the championship leader ultimately finished 16th due to a five-second penalty for exceeding track limits and a field tightly packed by the Safety Car intervention.
« I don't even know [what happened]Antonelli told Canal+ after the race. Something broke at the front of the car and I lost a crazy amount of downforce. The car wouldn't turn, or even drive straight. I stopped once, they changed the front wing because I thought that was the problem, but it was still there afterward. On the second stop, the mechanics pulled the stuck part out. When I came back out, the car was drivable again, so I thought I could go ahead, then the Safety Car came out. »
