Who said that Lance stroll couldn't break records in Formula 1 ? The Canadian may be struggling at the back of the pack with a Aston Martin who continues to regress, this does not prevent him from entering the history books of the discipline! Author of an insignificant 15th place during the United States Grand Prix in Austin, with a passage in the gravel as his only racing incident, the native of Montreal nevertheless entered the history of F1 at the end of this Texan weekend.
As you can imagine, it's not necessarily for good reasons that the Aston Martin driver wrote Formula 1 history in Austin, but the Canadian can nevertheless boast of holding a record. Indeed, Lance Stroll is now the driver who has competed in the most Grands Prix... without ever setting a fastest lap in a race! In Texas, the #18 competed in a 162nd Grand Prix without setting a fastest lap, erasing Johnny Herbert's previous record (161 Grands Prix without a fastest lap) from the records. Despite his three podiums and a pole position in his career, the 25-year-old driver has never managed to set the fastest time in a race since his Formula 1 debut in 2017.
Stroll and Albon in a closed circle
Another driver on the grid has also joined the closed circle of those who have competed in at least 100 Grands Prix without ever having achieved the fastest lap in a race:Alexander albon, who celebrated his 100th Grand Prix in Austin and who has never set the fastest lap in a race, nor at Toro Rosso, nor at Red Bull, nor at WilliamsThere are twelve of them in this very closed circle, including the French Olivier Panis (158 Grands Prix without a best lap) and Philippe Alliot (109 Grands Prix without a best lap), but also… Jos Verstappen (107 Grands Prix without a best lap).
