Lando Norris has perhaps scored more than just third place in the last four Grands Prix. The Briton is probably making a big impact in the championship. Points are only scored on Sunday, so he will have to stay in front at the first corner for the first time in his career, and hope that Max Verstappen does not go back up, because the Dutch and Red Bull missed out on this Saturday, with only 7th place for the reigning champion. A position obtained thanks to a short slipstream offered by Checo Pérez.

McLaren, after having slapped the competition at Zandvoort, secured the front row since the Australian will accompany Lando Norris this Sunday. But it was tight between the leading drivers, given the times achieved. Lewis Hamilton, the record holder for the number of poles here at Monza, is only 6th but is only 186/1000ths from the pole position. The Englishman was beaten by George Russell, 3rd at 113/1000ths from pole and 4/1000ths from the front row.

Ferrari, for his part, was beaten at Monza for the first time in qualifying since 2022. Charles Leclerc et Carlos Sainz will indeed start 4th and 5th. Charles Leclerc seemed quite down in the mixed zone, he who has had quite a few problems in turns 1 and 2 since the start of the weekend. Everything remains to be played out in front of the tifosi this Sunday.

Behind the four top teams, Alexander albon (9th) was the best performer, and won his duel as the best of the rest with Nico Hulkenberg (10th). The Thai finished 7th in the Grand Prix last year and will be a sure candidate for the points this Sunday.

Given their start to the weekend, the double passage into Q2 of the Alpine is already a performance in itself. However, they will only start 14th and 15th, just behind Kevin Magnussen (13e). Daniel Ricciardo continues his recovery by beating his teammate for the 4th time in the last 6 Grands Prix Yuki tsunoda in qualifying. Fernando Alonso congratulated himself on his 11th place, given the poor performance of his AMR24.

Unsurprisingly, the two Saubers will share the last row. Just in front, they will have Franco Colapinto, the replacement for Logan sargeant who was playing his first qualification in F1The Argentinian failed to make it to Q2, due in particular to a wide passage at the exit of a Lesmo. Lance stroll was also trapped and will start 17th. The last place in Q2 was played between Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda (16th), to the advantage of the Australian.

The first 6 in less than 2/10, that promises to be a good race tomorrow... and for once in a long time, TexMex is almost in the gearbox of its leader!
