Apart from his victory in the Sprint in China, Lewis Hamilton has struggled to find a regular rhythm since the start of the 2025 season with Ferrari. This Friday, on the circuit ofImola, the British pilot only signed the 11th time in Free Practice 2, showing some discomfort while driving.
In particular, he pointed out recurring brake problems. "It's a lottery: you draw lots, you put one [card] and it works, and another, and it doesn't work, says the seven-time world champion. I hope we will find a solution tomorrow, we are working on it, that's for sure.", he told the press.
A more encouraging first session
During Free Trials 1, Hamilton had nevertheless finished fifth, with a rather positive return. “I was really happy with the car in FP1, I felt like we had taken a step forward and I felt really positive.”he said.
However, slight changes in the settings have visibly altered the sensations on the track. "I changed two tiny things that shouldn't have had any effect. It's probably the smallest change we've made this year. We had brake problems that then had a huge impact. It's been a major problem since the beginning of the year.", he added.
Ferrari far from pole position, says Leclerc
For its part, Charles Leclerc believes that the car still lacks performance on a fast lap, a crucial point on a track like Imola, known for its difficulties in overtaking. "Our weak point at the moment is the pace in qualifying and we still need to work on that.", said the Monegasque.
“Going for pole, honestly I don’t think we have it in the car yet, but the race pace was strong so that’s positive.”he said.
"But it's also a track where overtaking is very difficult, so we have to focus on our pace in qualifying, that's where we put all our efforts."
Next session: Free Practice 3 to follow this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. as part of the Grand Prix of Emilia-Romagna.

If Sir Lewis continues to criticize Italian Brembo brakes, the tifosi will take offense. Does this mean the Englishman preferred the French Carbon Industrie brakes used by Mercedes?
