The first rounds of Lewis Hamilton at the wheel of a Ferrari were highly anticipated, his first crash a little less so. The Briton experienced his first off-track crash with one of the Italian single-seaters during his run in Barcelona this Wednesday.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are in Spain for three days of testing as part of the TPC (Previous Year's Car Test) allocated to each team. After dusting off its 23 SF-2023 during the first test in Fiorano (Italy) last Wednesday, Ferrari has sent it to Barcelona for a second season of testing planned for its two drivers less than a month before the pre-season tests scheduled in Bahrain from February 26 to 28.

On track Tuesday morning, Charles Leclerc handed over the wheel to his new garage neighbour in the afternoon under clear skies, despite cool temperatures. On Wednesday, the order was reversed: Lewis Hamilton took to the track this morning, but his run was quickly interrupted.

According to Sky Sports, the former driver Mercedes was the victim of an accident " minor ". Having left the track, he " finished in the barriers " of the Catalunya circuit, but was not injured. Lewis Hamilton will be able, if the weather conditions allow it, to return to the track on Thursday to quickly move on to something else. Known for being a driver who makes very few mistakes on the track, Lewis Hamilton has nevertheless missed out during pre-season testing each time he has changed teams.

Isn't this type of testing done to discover and test the limits of a single-seater even if it is not the 2025 version? Better that it happens before the preliminary winter tests in Bahrain at the end of February...
