Liberty Media Appoints New Chairman and CEO

It was in mid-November that Liberty Media announced the departure of its Chairman and CEO, Greg Maffei. The American company, owner of the Formula 1, announced this Thursday, January 9, his replacement in the person of Derek Chang.
In its press release, Liberty Media states that "Mr. Chang is a seasoned executive in the global media, sports and entertainment industries." A director of Liberty Media since March 2021, Derek Chang previously worked at EverPass Media and the NBA from 2018 to 2020, where he was responsible for expanding the reach of the North American basketball championship to China.

Derek Chang holds an MBA from Stanford University and a BA in history from Yale University. He will assume his new role at the helm of Liberty Media on February 1.
