There is also a rumor that the safety car's deployment left them with only a few seconds to make a decision, but even if that's true, even stubborn donkeys would have stopped.

I saw the photo. And it means that if a McLaren driver wins the title, he'll be booed, and the general reaction will be that it's a stolen title. F1 has more to gain from Verstappen, which will be a huge selling point: he enters into legend, tied with Schumacher for five consecutive titles and the biggest comeback in the championship. All that's left is to slap on the right penalty at the right time in case McLaren can't manage to lose on their own, but they've sealed their fate: they lack credibility. I'm extremely disappointed.

A photo circulating online shows four McLaren-branded donkeys sitting on the pit wall, captioned: "Ready for Abu Dhabi 2025!! Go Papaya." But what exactly is McLaren planning to pull off the feat of losing the Drivers' title at the final Grand Prix, just like they did in 2007 with their Alonso/Hamilton duo? Stay tuned!

McLaren's driver management is disastrous, with Piastri seemingly clinging to a bit of a fantasy: he not only needs to win ahead of Verstappen or finish third at best, but Norris can't do better than fifth. And it's in the name of this unreasonable hope that McLaren is ready to hand the title to Verstappen on a silver platter. They should just stay in the pits instead of racing; that would be the most effective way to lose.
