McLaren appeals the review of the Monaco Grand Prix results

Oscar Piastri ahead of Pierre Gasly at the Monaco GP. © DPPIMcLaren Racing has officially filed a notification of appeal with the FIA International Court of Appeal, regarding the decisions arising from the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix.
The team of Woking The FIA does not question the authority of the stewards or the FIA's legal procedures, but believes this case raises fundamental questions about sporting fairness, regulatory consistency, and the integrity of the competition. The Monaco Grand Prix race was marred by several time penalties for speeding in the pit lane.
However, for McLaren, the retroactive removal of penalties Pierre Gasly (AlpineThis now puts these teams at a disadvantage: they respected the rules and the stewards' decisions, yet they find themselves penalized in the standings compared to those who benefited from the annulment. A result which, according to the British team, risks creating sporting unfairness and undermining confidence in the consistent application of the FIA Sporting Regulations.
McLaren is careful to point out that its approach is not directed against any particular competitor, but reflects its belief that the Championship benefits from regulations applied consistently, transparently and fairly to all participants.
The team says it remains committed to working constructively with the FIA, the Formula 1 and other competitors in order to preserve the integrity of the sport and confidence in its regulatory framework.

The regulations are so complex, especially regarding protests, that common sense no longer prevails. The fact remains that the FIA/FOM have once again demonstrated their incompetence (after the predictable fiasco of the regulations), despite having been informed since Friday that there was a flaw in the speed control system. And, as usual, there is no one held accountable, no one guilty, and no sanctions for these serious errors within these opaque and decidedly undemocratic organizations. The main victim is Russell, who, whatever happens, will never recover the points for a podium finish that was stolen from him.
It was predictable. If a penalty is overturned for one team, it would mean it would be justified to do the same for the others who received penalties under the same circumstances, and the standings are skewed for those who didn't contest them. This could distort the championship. So, we'll see.
