After participating in the Barcelona winter tests with a predominantly black livery, McLaren unsurprisingly unveiled a new papaya livery, while Lando Norris is preparing to defend its world title won in 2025, still alongside McLaren and the Australian driver Oscar piastri.
For the first time since 2010, McLaren is displaying the number 1 on its carJenson Button joined the Woking-based team at the time after winning the world title with Brawn GP, while Lando Norris remains with his original team. Designed to comply with the 2026 regulations, the McLaren MCL40 naturally features significant differences compared to the two cars that secured the world title for McLaren in the last two years.

It's perfectly in keeping with the times for an F1 team targeting an audience that discovered motorsport through Mario Kart. But what about Giorgio Piola's sketches on the evolution of the suspension, airflow, engine integration, and the operation of the movable wings? In F1, that's top secret, and to avoid overly technical and awkward questions, they feed the 12-year-old fans some pretty (and questionable...) colors.

All these articles about F1 "liveries" reveal the abysmal emptiness of these car presentations, with their copy-pasted visuals due to overly restrictive regulations. There are no surprises anymore, so they try to focus attention on the paintwork... what a sad state of affairs for Formula 1!

The game of spot the difference again with the 2025 livery... Surprising because it won't change much on the merchandise except for those of Norris, number 1 being what it is!
