As in Free Practice 1, Ferrari dominated the second session of the day, this time with Lewis Hamilton ahead of Charles Leclerc.

There is definitely something working on the Ferrari this weekend in Monaco. After achieving a one-two finish in Free Practice 1, the cars of Maranello once again locked in the two best times during the second hour of running for the day.

This time it is Lewis Hamilton who dominated Charles Leclerc for 0.111s. It was a close call against the Red Bull de Max Verstappen, the third man at the start of this weekend (+0.168). On the other hand, the Mercedes Benz concede a significant gap: George Russell is 0.379s behind while Kimi Antonelli is a full half-second back (+0.503). However, the top five are the only ones within the same second, since Isaac Hadjarsixth, is 1.061s behind Lewis Hamilton.

The Frenchman was able to return to the track after his crash in FP1 and made sure to thank his mechanics over the radio, who worked tirelessly to repair the RB22 in two and a half hours. However, he was only able to complete 23 laps, 11 fewer than his teammate Max Verstappen and 12 fewer than the Ferraris.

On the side of McLaren, Oscar piastri is a discreet seventh, while Lando Norris suffered a breakdown which forced him to stop at the side of the track at the exit of the New Chicane after only eight laps completed.

Finally, among the French, Pierre Gasly ranks 11th and Esteban Ocon 17th, but only four tenths separate the two former teammates.
