A good start for Lando Norris in Singapore. The Briton has always finished in the top two in both Free Practice sessions, with a 2nd time in FP1 and the best time in FP2. From the first laps, the driver McLaren showed an interesting rhythm, alone in fighting neck and neck against the Ferrari. A good omen before qualifying and the race, especially against the Red Bull who suffered this Friday, with a Max Verstappen only 15th, 1″2 from the benchmark set by his runner-up in the championship.
Reasons for satisfaction, yes, but a slight feeling of disappointment for Lando Norris at the end of the first tests. The Englishman with two Grand Prix victories hoped to see the Ferraris further away in terms of times.“The pace is good. I feel good, I also did a good lap. I think we did what we expected, to be in front with Ferrari. However, I did a very good lap and Charles [Leclerc] is only 0 behind. I was hoping to have a much bigger gap than this, which means Ferrari is very, very quick.”, concedes the Briton.
Norris hopes for progress before qualifying
Although he was not as dominant as hoped on the Marina Bay circuit, Lando Norris said he was comfortable on the street track from the first laps. “That was the first comment I made to the whole team, that I felt good immediately, McLaren driver emphasizes. To be honest, I think we're still pretty good at it: one of our strengths is that we come in and perform straight away, but then we tend not to progress as much as other teams. We'll see, it'll be tight, but I think we're in a good position."
"I feel like there's not much we can change but we're just trying to get a little bit better, try to iron out a few little things and go a little bit faster. That's all we can do.", concludes Lando Norris, who knows that a big blow to the championship is possible this weekend. However, it will be necessary to get rid of the Ferraris and in particular Charles Leclerc : the two men, separated by less than a tenth during the two Free Practice sessions in Singapore, could offer us a very fine duel, a week after the one between Oscar piastri and the Monegasque.

I don't think the rear wing is illegal, otherwise the McLarens would have been disqualified in Baku. The FIA didn't hesitate to do it in Spa or Austin last year, for other irregularities. I rather believe that if these soft rear wings became widespread, it would reduce the effectiveness of the DRS and therefore the sacrosanct spectacle.

I hope that Norris' car as well as PIASTRI's car will finally be in compliance with this rear wing, today ????
