After his victory in Spielberg last weekend, Lando Norris was particularly expected at Silverstone, for his home Grand Prix. The Briton appeared slightly behind his teammate, whom he was unable to overtake in Q3, even though the latter had missed out on his last attempt.

Third, Norris was nevertheless satisfied with this result, especially as the wind and a few drops of rain did not make his task any easier. "It's a good qualifying. I won't be unhappy with third place, although I would love to be in first position here at Silverstone."

This Saturday, the gaps were extremely narrow: Charles Leclerc, sixth, was only 229 thousandths of a second off pole position. This is probably why Norris was content with third place. “It was the details that made the difference today, explained the Briton upon arrival. The gaps are small, small errors are costly: it's a few hundredths that make the difference."

Verstappen surprised everyone, Norris first and foremost

If the domination of the McLaren was threatened at Silverstone, it was more the Ferrari who were expected to contest pole position. 5th and 6th, they, like the McLarens, were unable to do anything against a Max Verstappen unleashed. "Max did a good job, we weren't quick enough today, but it was a fun session., greeted Norris, a good sport. Not perfect, but still a good day."

Last year, the Briton started third at Silverstone and was in contention for victory on Sunday. After qualifying, he already had his eyes fixed on the race. "I think it's going to be fun tomorrow. We'll probably have a great three-way battle, or even more, with Lewis, Charles and George behind us." The goal is clear: to win his home Grand Prix for the first time. This will require overtaking his teammate. Oscar piastri, second on the grid. Can't wait for the start.

What he doesn't say is that they sacrificed qualifying for the race.
