Ocon wants to find 'consistency' after the first four GPs

As the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix approaches, Esteban Ocon is keen for his Haas team to find consistency in the performance of its VF-25, which is by far the most difficult car to pin down in terms of race-by-race pace.

Ocon wants to find 'consistency' after the first four GPs

After four Grand Prix this season, Esteban Ocon points to ninth place in the drivers' championship, and his team Haas is fifth in the constructors' category. A choice performance on paper, but one that masks the very disparate levels presented by the American machines this year. Having finished last in the field in Australia, the Haas team found their form in China with a double finish in the points, before Esteban Ocon had a very disappointing weekend in Japan. At the same time, his teammate Oliver Bearman finished in the points once again, and both drivers repeated this performance last weekend in Bahrain, after starting from the back of the grid.

For the Norman pilot, it is therefore a certain consistency in the performance of his VF-25 that must be found. A consistency that must be based on the good weekends known in China and Bahrain: "We need to work a little on the consistency of our performances between weekends.", he explained to RTBF. "It's clear that there were 50% of the weekends that were very good, and the others were more difficult. When we managed to perform, we were there, we managed to capitalize on the points we could score. That's something we were able to do again last week, and it's really very satisfying to manage to score new points with both cars, especially considering our starting positions."

However, the former resident of the stable Alpine warns against overconfidence. Given their strong championship position, Haas could be complacent, and Esteban Ocon is keen for his teammates to remember the much tougher Grands Prix: "We have to stay vigilant, and we have to remember the weekends that didn't work, the ones where we didn't optimize things as they should have. We hope that will be the case again here, to put the car in the right window and have the confidence to attack."
