The end of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix was marked by the accident between Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz. So let's attack on Charles Leclerc for the gain of the 2nd place, the Mexican saw the Spaniard take advantage of the battle with the Monegasque to slip away from under his nose. In trying to regain his property, Checo could not avoid contact with the driver Ferrari and their Sunday ended in the wall at the exit of turn 2.

At the time, Sergio Pérez immediately opened his radio channel to rant against his counterpart who according to him had pushed him to the point of the accident. He then did not hesitate to go and say a few words to him when he was still in the cockpit of his Ferrari, considering himself the victim of a defense that was too rough, even going so far as to call him an idiot. A speech that became less heated later, no doubt after having taken the time to let the adrenaline go down.

« I felt that coming out of Turn 2 there was a lot of space between the two cars, and within just one or two metres we made contact., summarized Sergio Perez. It's very unfortunate. It all happened very quickly. I think Carlos was trying to take Charles's slipstream by going inside and that really made things very difficult. »

For his part, Carlos Sainz defended his maneuver. According to him, there was nothing dangerous on his part when trying to maintain his position on the track. My feeling is that I didn't do anything wrong, I didn't do any dangerous maneuvers, I didn't push him against the wall or anything like that., explained the Hispanic. We were just, like every lap, sliding a little bit, a little bit to the left because that's where the racing line is and we just touched. That's how it is. »

From the images, Carlos Sainz seems to never open the steering wheel too much to avoid pushing Sergio Perez who, for his part, apparently did not make an effort to avoid a possible collision. That's good, the race direction did not push the investigation further determining the action as a racing incident. Especially since none of them benefited from the scene, each having finally retired.

In charge of promotion formulas (F2, F3, FRECA, F4...). Carried by the grace of Franco Colapinto.

A racing incident that is accepted in F4 or even in F3 ... but unworthy of 2 experienced F1 drivers even if the light in this line is a bit problematic! Well, such a collision between Stroll and Sargeant would not have surprised anyone but Sargeant is no longer there, very advantageously replaced by Colapinto

and the light? they had the sun in front with an alternation of light and shadow that makes perception difficult especially at these speeds. from the point of view of the highway code, perez was behind therefore responsible and, if he had finished his attack on turn 1, he would not have found himself in this situation...
