Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli has unveiled the various recommended strategies for the fifty-six laps of the United States Grand Prix. The tyre supplier Formula 1 does not rule out any possibility: the teams will be able to make one or two pit stops, depending on the tire chosen at the start. As a reminder, the Italian firm brought to Austin the hardest tires in its range, the C1, as well as medium C3 and softer C4 tires.

Possible strategies
A start on medium tyres would require a single pit stop, while the soft tyres would require two stops during the race. Teams starting on medium tyres will generally consider a single pit stop, with two options: switching to hard tyres between laps 20 and 26, or switching to soft tyres between laps 28 and 34.
Drivers starting on soft tyres will have to make two stops. The first change must take place between laps 12 and 18 to switch to medium tyres, then two choices will be presented for the second stop: change to new medium tyres between laps 32 and 38 or switch back to soft tyres between laps 36 and 42.

Drivers starting on soft tyres will also benefit from better traction, +1,91 metres compared to those on medium tyres and +8,50 metres compared to those on hard tyres at the start of the race.

The tire sets available for the race
Regarding the tire allocation between the different teams, the drivers Classic Ferrari for sale, Mercedes Benz, McLaren and Carlos Sainz, Pierre Gasly et Max Verstappen start with the same setup. The drivers have a new set of hard tires and a new set of medium tires, but no new soft tires. With the exception of Oliver Bearman and Carlos Sainz, the drivers who qualified in Q3 no longer have soft tires at their disposal. In any case, the heat of Austin would certainly not have allowed a viable use of this compound. It should also be noted that Fernando Alonso no longer has any new sets of tires.
