The Las Vegas Grand Prix is becoming clearer day by day, for the return of the Formula 1 in Nevada after 41 years of absence. Less than three weeks before the first tests, Pirelli has revealed the three tire compounds that the twenty drivers on the grid will be able to use on the Strip. On this brand new 6,201 kilometer circuit – including a long straight line of almost two kilometers! – the Italian manufacturer has chosen the softest rubber in its range, namely the C3 (Hard tire, white stripe), the C4 (Medium tire, yellow stripe) and the C5 (Soft tire, red stripe).

The third Grand Prix which will take place this year in the United States is a real unknown. The teams have no real reference and will have to rely on simulations to define a basic set-up, which will be developed over the weekend. Another unknown will be the temperature, since all sessions will take place after sunset. The first estimates show very low temperatures throughout the weekend, close to 5°C: thus, the softer tires should have less difficulty in rising in temperature.

“The temperature and grip of the asphalt are quite low, according to the information I have, says Mario Isola, director of Pirelli Motorsport. The level of adhesion will therefore be very low. We can anticipate it. With these cold, even very cold, conditions, and a circuit that does not generate a lot of energy in the tires, warming up will be tricky. »

Pirelli also announced the tires that will be available for the final round in Abu Dhabi. As for Las Vegas, the C3, C4 and C5 tires will be used on the Yas Marina route.
