Poll – Who will win the title in Abu Dhabi: Norris, Verstappen or Piastri?

Last week, we posed a crucial question through our traditional Weekly Question. Even before knowing who would win, the question was who would still be in contention for the coveted world championship title. F1Optimistic about Lando Norris and Max Verstappen53% of you predicted a duel between the Briton and the Dutchman for the world title in Abu Dhabi. Nearly 26% of you were right in predicting that the three protagonists – including... Oscar piastri – would be involved, while nearly 18% of the votes leaned towards the scenario in which Lando Norris would already be champion after the Qatar Grand Prix.

Ultimately, the situation is one of a still uncertain three-way battle between three very different individuals from two distinct teams. On one side, Red Bull played along by continuing to develop his car throughout the year, paradoxically proving to be extremely pragmatic in the race. On the other hand, McLaren, undeniably having the best car since the start of the season, but whose strategic decisions sometimes raise questions, like the gross error made during the Qatar F1 Grand Prix.

So, in this situation, the questions are as numerous as the stakes in this Grand Prix. The title remains the only real focus of this upcoming race, which features three contenders with diverse backgrounds. With 408, 396, and 392 points respectively, Lando Norris, Max Verstappen, and Oscar Piastri will try to make their mark at the Yas Marina circuit next Sunday. In your opinion, will Lando Norris play it safe, or will a dramatic scenario allow one of his pursuers to suddenly become the leader? ...I had forgotten my conclusion: if Piastri were to play this game, I can hardly imagine the atmosphere at McLaren next year.

Statistically, McLaren has a 2 in 3 chance, but the situation is much tougher for Piastri than for Norris. He absolutely must finish ahead of Verstappen and score 5 more points, without Norris finishing higher than 5th. Norris can settle for finishing 3rd behind the other two, and Verstappen absolutely must score 12 more points than Norris (i.e., finish 4th). If the Qatar scenario were to repeat itself, Piastri in 2nd would lose, as would Norris in 4th: would McLaren be smart enough to pit the Australian under some pretext to save the title for one of the drivers? Piastri would be quite capable of staying out on track and even risking his teammate losing, even if it meant being beaten himself...

The Dutch shark will be crowned champion at the last minute because the Papaya Boys are preparing a third consecutive disastrous weekend, as they know so well how to do! Too bad, I would have loved to see Piastri become champion...
