In recent years, the Silverstone Grand Prix has always been unpredictable, both in terms of the scenario and the weather. In 2024, Lewis Hamilton had notably taken advantage of the rain falling twice and a good strategy regarding the tires to raise its Mercedes on the highest step of the podium. At home, and knowing the circuit like the back of his hand, the seven-time world champion gleaned his latest success there in F1.

Will he be able to repeat such a performance this Sunday, July 6? Nothing is less certain. In any case, weather-wise, the forecasts may disappoint some. Thus, various bulletins announce a risk of rain starting at 7 a.m. (40%) and for the rest of the morning with showers that could last until 14 p.m. local time (80 to 90% chance of precipitation).

However, at 15 p.m. (local time), the time the GP starts at Silverstone, the risk of rain drops back to 20%. This risk will remain zero for the rest of the race, as sunny spells are forecast with temperatures around 20-21°C.

F2 and F3 disrupted by rain at Silverstone?

While the 20 F1 drivers should not see their race disrupted by the rain, this should be the case for the main races of Formula 3 et Formula 2. In fact, the first is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. (local time) while the second will be played from 11:05 a.m. (local time). This is when the risk of precipitation is greatest.

As a reminder, in F2, it's Frenchman Victor Martins who will start from the top spot, having duly secured his first pole position of the season on Friday (his second overall). It remains to be seen whether the gloomy British weather will bring luck to the ART GP driver, who is still looking for his first victory in 2.

Well, that's exactly why McLaren sacrificed qualifying and Norris, with a wet setup, still finished P3 in qualifying, it must be emphasized.
