This is one of the many new features of the 2025 season of Formula 1 : Carlos Sainz will wear the colors of this year WilliamsA newcomer to the Grove team, the Spaniard is satisfied with the first test sessions carried out with his new team.

« This is a positive start, declared Carlos Sainz during the press conference of the Australian Grand Prix, the opening round of this new season. As I've said many times before, it started with the post-season tests in Abu Dhabi. As soon as I got behind the wheel and started working with my colleagues from this year, I felt like I had joined a motivated team, full of people eager to bring it back to the front. The car didn't disappoint. The Abu Dhabi tests were good overall, and we've been developing it intensely over the winter. »

Sainz, however, remains cautious about Williams' place in the hierarchy for this first meeting of the season. Are we going to be half a second, one second behind the leaders? I don't know, but I hope we can improve. That's the key word for this year: continue to progress collectively and see where we are. »

Carlos Sainz: "Correcting last year's weak points"

In 2024, Williams had waited until the Monaco Grand Prix, the eighth round of the season, to score its first two points of the year throughAlexander albon.

« I will definitely do my best to score points as soon as possible, but I don't know when, Sainz replied. This statistic isn't the most important. Progress means being more competitive, correcting last year's weak points. So far, testing has been positive: reliability, car weight, simple things that Williams perhaps hadn't mastered in the past. That's the case this year, and that's exactly what I mean by making progress. I need motivated people, and that's what matters most to me. That's what ensures success in the medium and long term. »
