Watching the Free Practice since the start of the season, one might think that McLaren ultra dominates the championship. Fortunately for the show, the Papayes are often less ahead on Sunday than during the three free sessions and we must hope that it will be the same in Jeddah, otherwise the suspense risks being quickly dissipated.
The Woking single-seaters crushed the competition in Free Practice 3 thanks to Lando Norris, author of the best time for 0″024 better than Oscar piastriBeaten in Bahrain last Sunday, the Briton reversed the balance of power this weekend by beating his teammate in every session until the final run before qualifying.
Williams and Gasly at the rendezvous
The fratricidal duel between the McLarens is likely to be scrutinized, as you have to go back more than six tenths of a second to find a trace of the first car : an abysmal gap in Formula 1. George Russell climbed onto the podium in FP3 and already seems destined to fight for 3rd place on Sunday with Charles Leclerc et Max Verstappen, also in good shape this weekend.
At Classic Ferrari for sale, the atmosphere is much more gloomy on the other side of the garage or Lewis Hamilton suffered the law of his teammate. The Briton was 0 seconds behind Charles Leclerc and seemed to be struggling all weekend.
Behind the best, the Williams once again placed very well. Alexander albon took 6th place, just ahead of his teammate Carlos SainzGrove's cars are expected in Q3, as are theAlpine de Pierre Gasly author of a new top 10 (8th). Isack Hadjar (11th) will also join the fight, but it risks being more complicated for Esteban Ocon, only 18th. Small positive point for Haas : Oliver Bearman praised the improvement in the front end of his single-seater compared to Friday's sessions.
