How complicated the last few weeks have been for Sergio Pérez. Since Imola, the Mexican has only registered four small units and has not participated in any Q3. As in previous years, these old demons seem to have reappeared...

On a more traditional circuit, like that of Barcelona, Red Bull could have a slight lead over Ferrari et McLaren, which would do the greatest good for Sergio Pérez who needs to find some color after having experienced three very difficult races.

“Arriving in Spain, I know that I need a successful weekend, after a disaster in Canada, assures the Mexican pilot. Sometimes you have to reset a little and we've been doing that since the last race. I went to Milton Keynes to work with the team to try and identify where and what we can do better to ensure I get the most out of this car. »

The Guadalajara native can also rely on a particularly competitive car, in which he always has confidence. “I have confidence in the car and the performance we can get from it, but I need to show it better on the track in Barcelona. I always enjoy the Spanish GP, it feels a bit like home and everyone makes me feel welcome. It's a circuit that I know very well and the RB20 should be fast on this type of track, so it's up to us to do things well and bring back the best possible result. »

Verstappen and Barcelona, sweet memories…

It always feels something to go to the land of your first victory in F1. And this Grand Prix has a very special flavor for Max Verstappen...

“I have good memories of the circuit, including winning my first Formula 1 race there. (with Red Bull, in 2016, Editor’s note). There's a good mix of high and low speed corners and we've always driven well there, so hopefully we can maximize the car's performance this weekend. We're aiming to keep Canada's momentum going, so we're looking forward to racing this weekend and hopefully having some good weather! »
