At the Singapore GP, Oscar piastri et Lando Norris were involved on the opening lap of the race as the Briton tried to avoid Max VerstappenAlthough Norris managed to gain a position on the track, the Australian did not hide his displeasure on the radio. "It wasn't very 'team spirit'" he said before adding, not without sarcasm: "We don't have a problem with Lando pushing me?"
The case is closed at McLaren
In Austin, Oscar Piastri said he won his case at McLaren. " I wasn't very happy with what happened. The team felt it wasn't an acceptable first lap, and we fixed that.. » If the incident judged « without bad spirit » by Andrea Stella, team principal, ultimately did not have major consequences for the two McLaren drivers, Norris admits that he " perhaps could have avoided it In Singapore, Piastri narrowly missed out on the podium, while his teammate climbed onto the third step.
Ahead of the US GP, Lando Norris acknowledged that his actions would have " implications " until " the end of the season ", without specifying its nature. Oscar Piastri, for his part, maintains the mystery, citing reasons of confidentiality. We also have to race against nine other teams […] We don't want to disclose anything sensitive to our team " explains the pilot from Melbourne.

Focus on the Drivers' Championship
Second in the championship behind Oscar Piastri, the Bristol native is 22 points behind his rival. Behind him, Max Verstappen is 41 points behind. I can't afford to have contact or for something like this to happen again, emphasizes Lando Norris. I would be endangering my own championship as much as that of the driver I am fighting against. »
Oscar Piastri also assures that his garage neighbor has " took responsibility » following « discussions […] very constructive " after the incident on the Asian island. " The conclusion was that what happened in Singapore is not how we want to race as a team, assures the Aussie. That's in the past now, and the rules aren't going to change because of it. Ultimately, we have this framework in place for a reason, and there's no reason to change it now. The matter is settled, and we're now looking to the future."
At the United States Grand Prix, where neither Lando Norris nor Oscar Piastri has ever won, the McLaren drivers will now have to come together to contain the threat of Max Verstappen and secure their second Constructors' crown after their victory.

It's clear that a double self-elimination for McLaren would give Verstappen a chance to get back within their reach. But the problem is that neither of the two papaya boys has established himself as the boss of the team, or even of F1 in general, to claim an undisputed title. This end to the championship is disappointing for McLaren; it's a far cry from the strength of character of the Prost-Senna duo, who left their rivals with no hope and settled their scores with victories.

When will a number 1 be designated at McLaren, the shadow of the Dutch quadruple World Champion is only growing in the papaya rearview mirrors? I don't like the Dutchman as a man but I admit that a fifth consecutive title would not displease me in view of the prevarications, "childishness" and convoluted explanations in practice at Woking!! In FP1 in Austin, Verstappen seemed to be comfortable in all configurations...
