"There is still room for improvement": Piastri knows what he needs to improve in 2025

If he has passed a milestone in 2024, Oscar Piastri has shown some limitations in certain areas. Aware of the room for improvement he still has, the Aussie would like to erase these few shortcomings to settle for good at the top of the table.

The least we can say is thatOscar piastri is not the type to turn a blind eye. When he notices imperfections, especially in his driving, he does not hide it and regularly admits it.

Overall, his 2024 season has been more than successful. The kid from Melbourne asserted himself in the paddock, scored points in every Grand Prix except Miami, never giving up on Sunday, finished the championship just off the podium, contributed to the first Constructors' title in McLaren since 1998, and above all integrated the circle of Grand Prix winners. In total, he has gleaned two successes. A first in Hungary unfortunately tainted by the internal radio war. A second, very authoritarian this time by dominating Charles Leclerc in the streets of Baku last September.

It's hard to do better on paper, but the Australian nevertheless showed some signs of weakness, facing Lando Norris especially when the Englishman was at his best. In addition to his two victories, Oscar Piastri appeared to have difficulty raising the tone against his teammate, particularly in qualifying. An exercise in which he conceded a stinging 20-4. Obviously, Mark Webber's protégé does not want to live the same experience in 2025.

« Compared to my rookie season, I feel like there has been a good improvement., summarized-he recently, full of lucidity. But there is still room for improvement. There were a few races at the beginning of the year, and some at the end of the season, that didn't go as well as I would have liked. Even at the team level, there are some races that we would have liked to have executed better.

For me, I was very happy with my performance level, especially in the middle of the year, and I think I showed quite clear progress compared to my first season. However, I made life too difficult for myself this year, mainly in qualifying. But compared to 2023, in many races, I would not have had the capacity to get back into it. (in race). While in 2024, I felt like I could afford it. So on a personal level, it's a good improvement but there's still room for improvement. » That has the merit of being clear.

The Aussie has clearly identified what is wrong with him, unless it is his mentor Webber who is pushing where it hurts. Very clear-sighted about himself, Piastri knows that he absolutely must improve in qualifying in order to be more in the running for victory if he wants to play for the title. Being a very cold-blooded machine, he has a very good chance of succeeding!
