The links between the stable Haas F1 Team and Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) are strengthening. More than a year after the conclusion of a technical partnership between the team of Formula 1 American and the motorsport division of the Japanese giant, the Japanese manufacturer will lend its name to the team's official Grand Prix designation. From 2026 onwards, it will be known as TGR Haas F1 Team!
Toyota Gazoo Racing and Haas jointly conducted no fewer than 14 days of TPC (Testing of Previous Car) testing in 2015. car former) for drivers who were part of the Toyota fold (Ryō Hirakawa, Ritomo Miyata, Sho Tsuboi and Kamui KobayashiIn 2026, the initiative will continue under the name "TGR Haas Driver Development Program." Furthermore, both parties indicate that the development of "Essential human resources such as pilots, engineers and mechanics" will continue in the future.
The 2026 decor will be unveiled on January 23rd.
According to the two representatives from Haas and Toyota, it would seem that Japanese drivers will have a greater opportunity to enter Formula 1. In 2026, none of them will be on the grid following the exclusion of Yuki tsunoda de Red Bull Racing.
"It is naturally a privilege to strengthen our relationship with TGR through this new title partnership agreement.", said Ayao Komatsu, team principal of the Haas F1 Team. “Our collaboration to date has been everything we hoped for. This was evident in our successful TPC testing this season, but there has been much more happening behind the scenes as well – including the development and installation of the simulator at our Banbury facility for 2026. The development of the personnel, all working collaboratively between the Haas F1 Team and TGR, has been incredibly beneficial and will only increase as our partnership grows. We are also excited to continue our growth through our driver program, and it has been encouraging to see the depth of talent supported by TGR in this process.”
"Throughout our struggles during the 2025 season, I saw young TGR drivers and engineers begin to believe in their own potential and aim for even bigger dreams."commented Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota Motor Corporation. “Seeing this transformation has deeply moved me. And today, I can say with confidence: Toyota has finally begun to move in the right direction. I wish to express my sincere gratitude to Gene Haas and Ayao Komatsu for supporting our young members, believing in their potential, and facing the future with the same passion and vision.”
"The time has come for the next generation to take its first steps on the world stage. Alongside Gene Haas, Ayao, and all the members of the TGR "At Haas F1 Team, we will build both a culture and a team geared towards the future. Toyota is now truly on the move."
Haas F1 Team also took the opportunity to announce the presentation date of its 2026 livery. This will take place online on Friday, January 23, before the first winter tests take place in Barcelona (Spain) from January 26 to 30, this time with a real version of the VF-26 adapted to the specifications of the 2026 F1 regulations.
Ahead of the 2025 season finale in Abu Dhabi, Haas F1 Team sits in 8th place in the Constructors' Championship with 73 points, their best points tally since 2019.

After the technical partnership stage, the title sponsor stage... a new step towards the takeover by Toyota GR of an American team (powered by the same engine as the other Yankee team, Cadillac!) or towards the arrival of a Japanese engine with the upcoming introduction in 2029 or 2030 of the future "high revs" naturally aspirated engine and sustainable fuel regulations?

This even more visible rapprochement is surprising and could lead one to believe that the team will eventually be bought out by Toyota... It is also surprising that Ferrari accepts that its engines can be used to promote other brands even if the Italian brand is not in direct competition with Cadillac and Toyota.
