This is the rumor that is shaking the world of Formula 1 from Shanghai: Yuki tsunoda could take Liam Lawson's place at Red Bull from the Japanese Grand Prix. This news gained even more momentum this Tuesday evening since Canal +, the official broadcaster of the championship in France, as well as the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, often very well informed when it comes to the stable of Max Verstappen, announced that the Japanese would take the place of the New Zealander from Suzuka, the third meeting of this 2025 season.

Contacted by Racefans, Red Bull has not yet confirmed this information. However, the official announcement could come later this week. Still according to the previously cited sources, Liam Lawson would not leave the Formula 1 grid since the Kiwi would make the opposite journey, returning to Racing Bulls, a team in which he played intermittently for the last two seasons. In recent days, however, a crazy rumor mentioned a possible arrival of Franco Colapinto, reserve Alpine, in the ranks of Faenza.
This decision to swap positions between the Japanese driver and Lawson follows a disastrous start to the season for the latter. Promoted to replace Sergio Pérez in the off-season, the 23-year-old driver stood out with very poor results in the first two rounds of the year, both in qualifying and in the race. In Australia, he did no better than 18th in the flying lap exercise, before finishing last twice in China. In the race, his best result was no higher than 12th place, in Shanghai, after the disqualifications of Charles Leclerc, Pierre Gasly et Lewis Hamilton.

Not sure Tsunoda is getting a good deal. In his place, I would have stayed with Racing Bulls, which seems to me to be much more efficient than the second RBR... But does Tsunoda have a choice?

We've reached this point: signing up for the RB program is a guaranteed humiliating end to your career. There may not be a single driver left to enter this promised grinding program. And if Verstappen leaves, all RBR will have to do is close up shop. Good riddance.

If this turns out to be true, Red Bull would prefer to sacrifice Tsunhonda, who will no longer be in the cans business in 2026 anyway. The Japanese driver's F1 career is likely to end at the end of 2025! At least, this good Doktor Helmooooout is giving Hadjar time to start in F1 rather than quickly destroying him at Red Bull Racing

Great for Yuki, hoping he can tease Max from time to time :)
