What if the matter was finally settled with Cadillac? On the long list of drivers surveyed to participate in the American firm's new adventure in the great world of Formula 1, the names scrolled by. Guanyu-Zhou, Mick Schumacher, Colton Herta, Sergio Pérez… Many have been cited, as well as more recently, Valtteri Bottas, current reserve driver of the team Mercedes.

The Finn did not hesitate to express his interest in the project in the F1 podcast, Beyond the Grid, a few weeks ago. "It's a very interesting project. Something new in Formula 1, an American team, with perhaps a different vision on the sport, he arguedl. Being part of it as a driver would be very motivating. I think they have several drivers on their list, but I imagine my experience can help.

Every other seat at Cadillac?

In his video, Valtteri Bottas displays his trademark humor, emphasizing the beauty of the driver's seat in the car in question. He also points out that the car does indeed have two seats, both of which are currently still vacant. As he gets into the seat, the 2019 and 2020 world champion simply replies: " Not yet ", as if announcing that patience would allow the public to see him one day sit in another model of the genre.

In addition to the usually deadpan tone of a Bottas partly appreciated for this, the one who experienced Williams, Mercedes, and Sauber before leaving Formula 1 at the end of last season has always maintained that his adventure in the category was not over. But while Sergio Pérez seemed to be in the running to become the first driver to join Cadillac before the start of next season, the question would legitimately arise if Valtteri Bottas were to be chosen.

Would the new team then turn to two experienced players to launch its project, or would it leave one of the two men aside to balance its duo with another younger choice such as Zhou? Whatever the final decision of the eleventh team on the grid, the lines finally seem inclined to move at the start of this summer.

So, could the only mullet to have recently appeared in Formula 1 have landed a contract to race in the WEC and/or IMSA, a two-seater discipline with a roof?
