La Formula 1 will very soon be heading to Brazil for the twenty-first round of the 2025 season. Last year, the capricious weather at Interlagos allowed for a surprising comeback by Max Verstappen The Dutchman, who started from seventeenth place, had superbly won the race.

In 2016, chaos also marred the event: before the start of the Grand Prix, rain poured down on the circuit. As the world's best drivers were about to take their places on the starting grid, Romain Grosjean lost control of his Haas to crash into the wall. The Franco-Swiss rider therefore never started the race, much to his disappointment after qualifying in seventh place.

The race start was ultimately delayed by ten minutes and launched behind the safety car despite precarious grip. After a race neutralized four times and interrupted twice, the race finally finished three hours after the initial start. Just like last year, young Max Verstappen had climbed through the field after dropping to sixteenth place. The Dutchman thus finished third, alongside Nico Rosberg in second and third. Lewis Hamilton, first.

For the 51st edition of the Brazilian Grand Prix, rain is once again a possibility at Interlagos. Will it provide such a spectacle for the local crowd? It seems likely, given the weather forecast for the Grand Prix.

It's raining, it's pouring… in Interlagos

Indeed, according to the latest figures from Climatempo BrasilWhile Sunday appears to be spared by Mother Nature (0% risk), Friday and Saturday are expected to be more humid (75% and 91% risk, respectively). Tropical temperatures are also forecast for F1: 27°C on Friday, 28°C on Saturday, and 22°C on Sunday.

In this scenario, the race (scheduled for 14:00 PM local time, 18:00 PM in France) could be run calmly, unlike qualifying and the sprint race. This promises a surprising starting grid for the Grand Prix and an exciting sprint race!

If the weather forecast is right for this weekend 🇧🇷 it could be exciting ‼️. Sprint race: 90% chance of rain… ideal conditions for Master Max… then Sunday: dry, 1% chance of rain? What a headache for the setup…!!!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 Typical Brazilian weather… President: Ayrton Senna Memorial Club of Luxembourg 🇱🇺. alainkf1@pt.lu 😎👀👍👍👍👍

A good tropical storm, a waterlogged track, a reshuffle of cards and a Dutchman who walks on water, déjà vu in 2025?

We can see how the desire of Leroy Merlin and Formula One to sell "racing" cars to a supposedly ignorant public leads to amateurism and unmanageable situations that force improvisation. Ultimately, it's F1 that loses credibility, and even this cherished, supposedly ignorant public will end up not understanding anything and turning away from it.

Yeah, well, it's all well and good to say the rain is going to shake things up this weekend. But there are things to consider, and what will surely happen if the predicted conditions hold true: it'll be like last year, red flag after red flag, and in the end, no cars on track, the sprint race and qualifying postponed to Sunday, or Saturday's sprint and qualifying cancelled, and the qualifying session that was originally for the sprint race will be used for Sunday's grid. Didn't they create a rule for these kinds of conditions where they used Friday's standings to determine Sunday's grid?
