Season 2025 of the Formula 1 ended with the first world title of Lando NorrisThe Briton thus delivered a Drivers' title to McLaren, for the first time since the triumph of Lewis Hamilton in 2008.

However, his rivals did not play poorly. Max Verstappen has, for its part, achieved a historic comeback in the standings. After the Dutch Grand Prix, it was 104 points behind the championship leader at the time Oscar piastriHowever, he finished the season two points behind the world champion. As for Oscar Piastri, he dominated the Drivers' standings for most of the season – leading in 15 of the 24 Grands Prix.

Besides the points scored by each driver, where Lando Norris comes out on top just ahead of Max Verstappen, and with 13 more points than Oscar Piastri, other statistics offer an interesting perspective on the performance of the top three in 2025.

The 2025 season of the three best drivers, in numbers

In terms of wins, pole positions, and laps led, Max Verstappen is the undisputed leader this season. The Dutchman has won eight qualifying sessions and eight Grands Prix in 2025, leading 454 laps throughout the year. He is slightly ahead of Lando Norris, with seven pole positions and seven wins. He also leads Oscar Piastri, who has six pole positions and seven Grand Prix victories. However, in terms of laps led, the Australian is far superior to his teammate, with 452 laps in the lead compared to just 373 for the new champion.

In tennis, a Grand Slam refers to a major tournament, while in Formula 1 it signifies total domination during a Grand Prix: pole position, fastest lap, leading every lap, and victory. Lando Norris will not achieve this feat in 2025, while Max Verstappen (Azerbaijan) and Oscar Piastri (Netherlands) have each achieved one.

Conversely, the Briton stands out for his pole position-to-victory conversion rate, which has improved significantly compared to the previous year. In 2024, Lando Norris converted only 50% of his pole positions into wins. In 2025, he surpasses his two main rivals with a conversion rate of 71,4%, ahead of Oscar Piastri (66,7%) and Max Verstappen (50%). He also dominates in terms of podium finishes, with 18 top-three finishes in 24 races, compared to 16 for each of his two rivals.

While Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri had their best season of their careers, a quote fromAlain Prost The outcome of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix perfectly illustrates the 2025 season and, above all, Max Verstappen's monumental comeback: Congratulations to Lando, it's well deserved, but Max… Max is clearly head and shoulders above the rest. »

I agree with Mr. Prost's opinion, who, moreover, seems to me to be more qualified than all of us in these comments to analyze the quality of the drivers.

Well, the best one is the one who got the most points, namely Norris, plain and simple! At least the number of points is an objective criterion, because otherwise, Colapinto's fans will say he's the best but he didn't have the machine to prove it!

If I had to choose... I prefer a clean driver like Lando, not like Max and all his shady dealings... But it seems the tide is turning for Max! 2026 and its "splendid" engine supplier... All the good people at Red Bull have left. We wonder why??? In the 60s and 70s, we drove cleanly, we "fighted" on the track, yes, but afterwards we'd have a drink together... It was great, and when a friend (yes, we were all friends) was in trouble... we helped him out!

Without any hesitation… Max… The numbers are very clear… 👍. If RBR hadn't been so bad at the start of the season… Max would have been… World Champion 2025… ‼️‼️‼️. alainkf1@pt.lu 😎 Great… Max 🧢

Nothing to add to Vincent's comment, except that Verstappen has more cumulative experience than his two rivals for the 2025 title because he started in F1 in 2015... 11th season, so luckily he makes fewer mistakes, which still doesn't stop him from "losing it" like in Barcelona!

Yes, Verstappen is the fastest and makes fewer mistakes on track. But he can choose how to direct the development of his car (a luxury the two Papaya Boys can't afford), and it's clear he's made the wrong choices since the middle of the 2024 season. He secured the 2024 title thanks to his early lead and Perez's help, but started 2025 with a car unable to compete with McLaren. Being the fastest on track isn't enough if you can't get the necessary machine from your team to win. Worse still, he's even created a void around himself within his own team, with even the star engineer and the engine supplier leaving.
