A chameleon. Oliver Turvey has been roaming the paddocks for over twenty years, gaining experience in various categories. At 37, the Briton has built up a solid experience between the Formula 1, Formula E or againEndurance.
After an 8th place in the GP2 Series in 2010 behind Pastor Maldonado, Sergio Pérez and Jules Bianchi in particular, the Penrith native joined the ranks of McLaren in F1, as a reserve and test driver. The eight years spent with the Woking team gave him solid experience of the premier category of motorsport, which he will now bring to Williams.
The British team has just announced the arrival of Oliver Turvey as a test and development driver, in a support role for the duo Carlos Sainz - Alex Albon, notably thanks to work on the simulator alongside Harrison Scott, the usual task manager. “We are very pleased to welcome Oliver to our team,” says Williams sporting director Sven Smeets. “He brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will be invaluable to our progression as we continue to strengthen the team at all levels.”
