1978 Lotus and 2006 McLaren up for auction

You wish to acquire an old Formula 1 to complete your personal collection? The house specializing in auctions, Bonhams, will organize an exceptional one during the next Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, scene of the “final” of the 2023 F1 season (November 24-26).
Named “On the grid”, this auction offers two unique lots: a 1978 Lotus and a McLaren of 2006. The first was driven by Mario Andretti the year he won the world championship. It is a Type 79 introduced during the season in Belgium and with which the American won 5 Grands Prix.
Concerning the second, it is the McLaren MP/21 ex-Kimi Räikkönen! The chassis in question is the 02, used notably during the famous 2006 Monaco Grand Prix during which the Finn retired due to a fire before heading straight to his own yacht without even changing.
According to Bonhams, the 1978 Lotus is estimated between 6,5 and 9,5 million dollars (between 5,9 and 8,6 million euros) while the 2006 McLaren is "a little" less expensive. The range goes from 2,5 to 3,5 million dollars (2,2 and 3,1 million euros). The auction is scheduled for November 25 and will take place directly on the track.
