Registered in Savoie, this Ferrari F40 was offered to the four-time world champion of Formula 1 At the end of 1989, when he joined the Ferrari team, he acquired the F40. Registered in February 1990, the car didn't remain in the Professor's possession for very long. He later explained that he parted with it shortly afterward and drove it very little. Already sold at auction in 2023, it was estimated to fetch between 2,5 and 3 million euros.

The estimate now ranges between 2,7 and 3,2 million euros for a unique piece, since before parting with it in the early 1990s, Alain Prost He took care to autograph the roof of the car. A distinctive signature that is still visible today, and which only increases the value of what was at the time simply the fastest road car in the world.

In pristine condition, chassis 83249 has since received Ferrari Classiche certification, confirming that the chassis, engine, gearbox, and bodywork are original. The F40 will be auctioned by RM Sotheby's on December 5th at a special sale in Abu Dhabi, coinciding with the Formula 1 World Championship finale.

After being stored in France, the F40's fuel tanks were replaced in March 2019 at Ferrari Lyon and remain valid until September 2028. A major service was also carried out at that time, and the car is scheduled for a further service in October 2025 by Emil Frey Sportivo, the official Ferrari dealer in Munich. Since then, the car has covered minimal mileage, with the odometer reading less than 5,000 km at the time of cataloging.

At the same auction, the wealthiest enthusiasts will be able to bid on the future McLaren of F1 andIndyCar (the 2026 versions are indeed on sale), as well as on the Woking-based brand's Hypercar, which will make its debut in the World Championship.Endurance in 2027.

Delivered to Switzerland, registered in Méribel, sold to an Englishman who passed through Jersey, then to a collector who splits his time between the UK and the US, Ferrari Classiche certification, Ferrari Lyon, Ferrari Munich, auctions in Abu Dhabi, numerous journeys for an F40 with less than 5.000 km on the clock... which will almost certainly end up with an Emirati collector! For your information, Alain Prost admitted to never having driven it a single kilometer.
