In the first part of the season, Alan Permane, Team Principal of the Racing Bulls, described Liam Lawson as hurt and wounded by Red Bull's decision to demote him after only two Grands Prix with the main team. Sacrificed with only nine race weekends of experience, the Kiwi managed to regroup and team up with Isack Hadjar in a more favorable environment than the one he encountered at Milton Keynes.

In many ways, he subsequently distinguished himself. Although it is his French teammate who is now reaping the rewards of what he sowed this year, the New Zealander's performances did not go unnoticed by his team boss. “I truly see genius in him,” exclaimed Alan Permane. via PlanetF1. I think it's up to all of us, him included, to try and understand, when everything is going well – and it often is – like during exceptional races in Austria, Budapest, and during qualifying and the race in Baku, what the secret is to this success. We have to try to reproduce that throughout the season.

Lawson's recipe for success

Sixth at the finish of the Austrian Grand Prix, eighth in Hungary, fifth in Baku, and also eighth in Monaco (his first major result of the season), Liam Lawson seems to have been the main player in his return to form. Capable of contributing to the necessary adjustments on his carThe young pilot's shot was just barely within his grasp, according to his superior.

"He and his race engineer spent a lot of time in the simulator, playing with the geometries of the front suspension and steering," Alan Permane explainedThey found something that we did indeed have on the car in Monaco, and he had a good weekend in Monaco, a very good weekend.

Not hesitating to describe his protégé "immense talent"The British driver, formerly an engineer and now captain of the ship since Laurent Mekies' departure to Red Bull, will continue to team up with his driver in 2026. Liam Lawson will now have just over a season of experience to further his development. Despite still frequent clashes, the Kiwi will team up with Arvid Lindblad, the only rookie in the upcoming season. In addition to simply supporting him, Lawson will primarily need to finish ahead of his future teammate, thus capitalizing on the renewed confidence gained this year.

He's a driver with enormous potential, but he needs to be more focused and, above all, more concentrated, and his team needs to help him! alainkf1@pt.lu 😎👀👍👀👏

Liam Lawson is a genius... but one might still wonder, as his beginnings in Formula 1 were less brilliant than those of Verstappen or Leclerc!
