Aston Martin soon to be sold? Stroll categorically refutes: “I’m not going anywhere”

Lawrence Stroll returned to the numerous rumors of the sale of the Aston Martin team which appeared during the 2023 season. The Canadian billionaire does not intend to cede control of his team in the near future.

This is one of the (many) rumors that fueled the (monotonous) 2023 season. At the end of October, several rumors in the corridors reported an upcoming sale from the stable Aston Martin to the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, which already sponsors the British team via the oil company Aramco. A rumor that followed Lawrence's sale of a minority stake to private equity firm Arctos Partners Stroll a little earlier in the year. Swept aside by the Stroll family, this hearsay was forgotten almost as quickly as it appeared.

A few weeks later, Lawrence Stroll, owner of the Aston Martin firm and its team F1, returned to this episode which caused an eventful end to the season – already difficult on the track – for the Greens. “I don’t know where this speculation comes from. I read it in a publication or two recently”, declared the Canadian billionaire during an interview with the New York Times, before refuting these rumors again. “You don't spend hundreds of millions of pounds, build the biggest Formula 1 campus and hire 400 of the best people if you're about to leave the company. »

Stroll gone to stay " very, very, very long time”

Lawrence Stroll, at the head of the Silverstone team since mid-2018 with the takeover of Force India and the return of Aston Martin to F1 in 2021, launched a five-year plan for the quest for the title with the British manufacturer. The objective: to win the world title in 2026, with a planned partnership with Honda for the supply of engines. An action plan that Lawrence Stroll defends in the face of sales rumors.

“I have proven through my commitment, and this couldn't be further from the truth, that I have no interest in ever being the majority shareholder of this team for a long, long, long time, and that's it. The same goes for the road car company. I won't go anywhere, said Lance Stroll’s father. I plan to run these businesses for many years. I am only at the beginning of my journey in both cases. »

Lawrence Stroll also said he was closed – for the moment – ​​to the arrival of new investors in the Aston Martin team, wishing to retain a majority share in the team.
