After a memorable qualifying session punctuated by repeated interruptions and unexpected accidents, Frenchman Isack Hadjar had to settle for a frustrating eighth place on the grid for the Azerbaijan GP. The Racing Bulls driver had a great session, but two hours of qualifying, six red flags, and unpredictable weather got the better of him, leading him to make a decisive error on his final lap.

« Yeah, I'm really pissed off, Hadjar admits to AUTOhebdo. I had a great lap until I went into skateboard mode on a curb. I lost eight tenths of a second by the finish line. It was tough for everyone today." The session was largely disrupted by repeated red flags caused by incidents involving numerous other drivers. But hey, it's the same for everyone and I made a mistake"

The frustration is all the greater as his teammate Liam Lawson will start third for Sunday's race. Without this error, Hadjar could have beaten the New Zealander. Asked about the time he thought he could have achieved without this clumsy move in the final corner, he calculated: " If I'm not too bad at math... third grade"

Having emerged from the pits among the first during the final part of qualifying, Hadjar managed to set a time before the track became too slippery. The wait caused by the interruptions finally got the better of the Frenchman's vigilance. Well apparently my ability to concentrate stopped on the last corner, and that was it, Hadjar gets exasperated. But before that I felt very strong »

The Racing Bulls nevertheless showed a promising pace for the Grand Prix, where everything is still to play for. No, that's for sure, but that's just it: it's not where I want to be when the car can do better. That's all. " the rookie gets annoyed.

Annoyed especially as he sees his Kiwi teammate in the second row! But the session was complicated for everyone and at least he didn't break anything unlike others who did break carbon
