Among the pilots concerned about their future, Valtteri Bottas is one of those that still needs to sort it out. At the end of his contract, the Finn with 10 victories does not know what the rest of his career will be like. And as the season and the transfer market continue, the opportunities are diminishing for the former Mercedes.
Lately, he said he was waiting for the “cork” Carlos Sainz jump in for good in order to really delve into the matter. This one ended up jumping with a planned arrival at Williams from the next campaign. A transfer which also eliminated one of the tracks of the most Australian Finns on the grid. So there aren't many left, at least not many credible ones anymore. Difficult to see him return to Mercedes while Toto wolff dream about Max Verstappen and that Andrea Kimi Antonelli is gaining momentum with recent successful performances in F2.
No room at Hass either, Red Bull or even RB which really seems to want to focus on youth in 2025. Among the last remaining options: Sauber, a team of which he has been a member since 2022 and already associated with Audi, expected in F1 in 2026. The latest news and while Andreas Seidl had decided to make Nico Hulkenberg its spearhead, the situation seems to have changed. The German was asked to look elsewhere and was replaced by Mattia Binotto as project director. An arrival which could work in favor of Valtteri Bottas in the coming weeks?
« This will restart discussions, admitted-he, waiting for the Italian to take office before commenting further. Mattia needs to know what the weaknesses, the strengths, the priorities are in order to improve in the short and long term, and that will take a little time. Obviously, some points remain between the walls (from the stable), but we know that compared to the big teams, we still lack a little human power. There are certain areas that we definitely need to focus on, at the factory but also in terms of the performance of the car. For now we are not where we should be and that is why we needed further improvements and we need to move in the right direction. » A direction on which the man with 236 starts hopes to still be next year. The first exchanges with Mattia Binotto will allow him to take the temperature and see if the Transalpine is inclined to extend it in order to be able to have an experienced duo next year with Nico Hülkenberg on the other side of the garage.

It would still be very risky for Audi not to enlist the services of a multiple Grand Prix winner and/or a driver with a Top Team experience...
