While rain threatened the Interlagos circuit, promising a potentially lively race, the skies remained calm throughout the 71 laps. It was therefore the drivers who decided to put on a show on the track, particularly at the start, where several collisions marred the opening laps.
Lewis Hamilton broke its rear wing.Alpine of Franco Colapinto, while Gabriel Bortoleto ended up in the wall at turn 10, following contact with Lance strollThe safety car entered the track, leaving Lando Norris to resume hostilities. The Briton got off to a good start, while behind him, Oscar piastri attempted to gain two positions by surging inside on Kimi Antonelli. In the tiny gap the rookie had agreed to open, there certainly wasn't enough room to slip the two meters wide of the McLarenPiastri collided with the Mercedeswho, in turn, typed the Ferrari de Charles Leclerc, collateral victim, forced to abandon due to a suspension breach.

Piastri, penalized ten seconds, had to serve his penalty during his pit stop and was never able to rejoin the podium, let alone catch his teammate. Lando Norris drove a calm and controlled race, winning his 11th Formula 1 Grand Prix, equaling the record of Brazilians Felipe Massa and Rubens Barrichello, as well as 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve. The number 4 driver extends his lead over his teammate Oscar Piastri to 24 points in the championship.
Verstappen is coming back from the pits
Behind them, a fierce battle raged between drivers employing different strategies, but the Mercedes, long poised for a double podium finish, ultimately had to yield to the onslaught. Max VerstappenFitted with soft tires at the end of the race, the Dutchman came back like a shot to grab a third place that seemed utopian when he started from the pit lane after his exit in Q1.
Winner last year after starting 17th, the four-time world champion showed why he is already one of the greatest in the history of his sport, leading a blistering comeback until he fell short in the slipstream of Kimi Antonelli, who put up a veteran's defense until the checkered flag.
Antonelli and Verstappen shone on a track that was not favorable to the local drivers: Gabriel Bortoleto retired at the start, while Lewis Hamilton, an honorary Brazilian citizen, did not shine in the land of Ayrton Senna.
Hadjar and Gasly in the points
The Briton touched Colapinto's wing in the early laps, causing his own front wing to break, after already being hit by Carlos Sainz at the start. Behind the wheel of a car Having become impossible to drive, Hamilton eventually retired, concluding a disastrous race for Ferrari.
The end of the race wasn't just close among the leaders: behind them, a fierce battle raged right to the finish line between the drivers ranked 7th to 14th. Separated by just three seconds after 71 laps, the eight drivers swapped positions until Liam Lawson finally made his one-stop strategy pay off (7th), ahead of his teammate Isack Hadjar (8th). Nico Hulkenberg picked up the two points for ninth place, also opting for a single stop, while Pierre Gasly finishes tenth and scores a second point after the one obtained in the Sprint.
What a final lap! 🤯🤯🤯

Antonelli...a future great champion and by far, by a long shot the best rookie of the year.

Poor Hamilton, it's becoming pathetic. It's like drinking the cup to the dregs. At McLaren, Piastri is losing it, he's been making one big mistake after another and underperforming for the last four GPs; Baku has ruined his momentum. It's high time Norris was designated as McLaren's leader. Verstappen is exceptional.
