Why such a long wait?

Two things helped put an end to the procrastination of Carlos Sainz concerning his near future: the conviction that Toto wolff et Mercedes will end up announcing the hope Kimi Antonelli as George Russell's teammate next year and the new chance offered to Sergio Pérez. If the Horner/Marko pair had really wanted Sainz to return to the fold Red Bull, she would have long since given notice to the Mexican. Conversely, the team thinks that there are still a few things to do to help friend Checo feel more comfortable in the car and allow him to exploit its potential. She now wants to work over the coming weeks and months on a strategy to ensure they do everything they can to get the best out of Pérez.

Whatever we say, a choice by default... but a huge gamble which could prove to be a winner in the long term with a Mercedes 2026 Power Unit at the forefront!
